What is covered, for how long, and how to get in touch. These terms apply to items bought from Nick Nitro Retro Gaming unless a listing says otherwise.

Vintage AV includes VCRs, amplifiers, receivers, CD players, tape decks and similar hardware. eBay purchases follow eBay’s own Money Back Guarantee.
Money back
If an item is not as described, contact us within the money back period for that product type. We will arrange a refund or exchange.

Refunds are processed within 3 business days after we inspect the return.
Why CRTs are 14 days
They are large, heavy and fragile. Extra days in a car or a garage create damage that has nothing to do with how the set left us. Fourteen days is enough to test it on your own setup. Set it up as soon as you get it home.
Consoles and genuine accessories
One year from the purchase date against defects in materials and workmanship under normal use. Original purchaser only. Not transferable.
Covered
- Console will not power on or boot under normal use
- Controller buttons, D-pad or sticks stop working under normal use
- AV or power failures on genuine Nintendo, Sega, Sony or Microsoft hardware
- Handheld screen failure under normal use
- Internal faults not caused by damage or misuse
Games
Sold as tested working unless the listing says otherwise. Money back applies if a game is not as described. No separate long-term warranty on discs or carts.
CRTs and vintage AV
CRT televisions, VCRs, amplifiers, receivers, CD players, tape decks and plug-and-play units are sold as tested working. There is no ongoing hardware warranty on the machine as a whole. These are 20–45 year old electronics. We test them and describe them honestly. We cannot promise how long they keep running.
Service work on CRTs
Every set we sell gets a Service ID, an internal label and a void seal. Category 1 (inspection, clean, picture/audio, geometry notes, degauss, written report) is on every sale set.
Category 2 and 3 is actual repair work. Those sets carry a 30 day warranty on that specific work only — new joints, new components fitted, the installation of a replacement part. Not the used part itself. Not the rest of the television. Not a fault we did not touch.
Claims come to Nick Nitro directly, including if you bought through a retail partner. Geometry and work notes sit on the CRT Service Report.
Seals and labels
The internal service label uses water-sensitive ink and is not laminated. Bleeding ink or a wrecked label is treated as moisture or tampering and ends cover.
Breaking or removing the void seal ends warranty and money back on that item. CRTs hold high voltage after unplugging. Do not open one.
What is not covered
These sit outside money back and warranty.
- Damage after purchase — drops, cracks, liquid, accidents
- Transport damage, including CRT geometry knocked in transit
- Broken, removed or tampered void seal
- Moisture, condensation or humidity
- Heat from poor placement or no ventilation
- CRT burn-in from static images left on
- Wrong or non-genuine power supplies and cables
- Forced carts or discs
- Yellowing, scuffs, scratches, fading
- Mods or repairs after sale
- Aftermarket controllers and accessories
- Ongoing performance of old discs and carts
- Batteries, including save batteries
- eBay orders (eBay Money Back Guarantee applies)
Pickup, postage and the ACL
Pickup is Renown Park, SA 5008. Posted items: inspect on arrival and message within 48 hours if something arrived damaged. Warranty returns: you cover postage to us, we cover postage back. CRTs usually come back in person.
This policy does not limit your rights under the Australian Consumer Law. For second-hand goods, guarantees are judged against age, price and the condition we described at sale.
How to claim
We are a small SA shop. Facebook is fastest. We aim to respond to all claims within 2 business days.
Making a claim
- Message us within the applicable period. Facebook is fastest.
- Provide proof of purchase: a screenshot of the Marketplace conversation, a receipt, or an order confirmation.
- Include the Service ID from the internal label if the item has one.
- Describe the fault. Photos or a short video help a lot.
- We assess and come back to you with an outcome.
How we resolve a claim
Where a warranty claim is accepted, we will repair, replace or refund at our discretion. Replacement is with an equivalent item of equal or greater value. Where none of these is possible, we refund the original purchase price.
Claims are assessed case by case. We may ask for additional photos, video or the return of the item before reaching an outcome.
Refunds are processed within 3 business days after the item is inspected.
